Do packaged baby carrots grow roots and form a plant?
I have some baby carrots in my fridge – bought them 5 days ago, but they are ‘best by’ yesterday… So I decide to eat them anyway and after opening the package notice it looks like they have tiny baby roots! Are they trying to grow in my fridge? I always thought ‘baby carrots’ were pieces of a big carrot? I dunno, but what’s the deal – if I put this carrot in a pot of soil will I get a plant?
Baby carrots are just that -carrots that have been harvested before they grow any larger. The carrot is in fact the root, so the tiny roots you see are just part of the main carrot root.If you plant it, you wont get any more carrots but you may get some top green growth which looks a bit like parsley.
