gardening shrubs

Can anyone please reccommend trees or shrubs to plant in very wet areas of a garden?
Our garden which is very large floods during heavy rain and dries out to be rock hard in hot weather, the water table is never lower than 300mm from the surface
Willows such as a Weeping Willow would do well there as well as Bald Cypress. Bald Cypress actually are accustomed to growing in swamps but will do well on dry land as well. One of the great things about Bald Cypress is the leaves are a very fine texture giving it a soft feathery look and in the fall there are no leaves to clean up as they are so small they just disappear into the soil or grass.
