container garden

Container garden and plants, are these alright?
Hello!
I’m planting nasturtiums, hollyhocks and California poppies in a huge container , or considering to do so (I live in an apartment, so I don’t have a garden or anything like that…just my balcony). I’ve read that all three do well in poor soil, so I would like your opinions on this grouping.
Thank you in advance!
I would recommend that you plant them in different containers. I have nasturtiums in my yard and they’re like a weed. They’re very invasive and vining, although they have soft flesh. They grow very quickly and will quickly crowd out anything you plant them with. BTW – nasturtium flowers are edible. Some chefs use them as a garnish in gourmet salads. They taste like very hot radishes.
Hollyhocks can get very bushy and wide. Combined with the nasturtiums (if they didn’t get crowded out), you would have a big mess of a planter.
And poppies are tall and thin, but they would easily get crowded out by both the nasturtiums and the hollyhocks.
